Size information

All of our equipment that is worn on the body is clearly labelled with clothing sizes. To help you quickly find the right size for you, you will find a "Sizes and fits" link on the product detail pages of our shop. In the window that you open, a clear table shows you all the measurements in cm for the respective clothing sizes.

For some items, you will also find a short guide on where and how best to take measurements. This allows you to determine exactly which size fits you before ordering, even without trying on.

Tip for beginners

The ounces (oz) specified for boxing gloves are weight specifications. This means that the more ounces, the heavier the glove and the thicker the padding

For training and sparring, you should therefore choose a heavy glove (i.e. anything from 12oz and heavier). We even offer some models with weights up to 20 oz.

This has several advantages: These boxing gloves not only protect your hands and knuckles better, they also protect your training partner from injury. The higher weight increases the force required for every punch and every arm movement. This strengthens the entire musculature and increases punching power and endurance.

In competition, you will benefit from this additional effort, as you will be fighting with significantly lighter weights - 8 and 10 oz for professionals and 10 and 12 oz for Olympic boxing. You can execute your punches faster, more precisely and with greater endurance.

This training effect can be further enhanced with the additional weight cuffs from Paffen Sport.

Care tips

Like everything you want to enjoy for a long time, you should also look after your Paffen Sport equipment carefully. This doesn't just apply to boxing gloves, head and groin protectors made from high-quality genuine leather. Mouthguards or elbow and knee pads made of fabric or artificial leather will also last considerably longer if they are well treated.

Before use, check that all parts - lacing, fasteners - are present and free from defects. This headgear is designed to prevent superficial mechanical injuries to the forehead, temples, ears and back of the head exclusively during boxing or unarmed martial arts. Depending on the intensity and form of use as well as cleaning and care, the headgear may become deformed or even damaged. Extreme heat (from approx. 40° C and higher) can also lead to deformation and reduced protection. The headgear should be replaced immediately if the following damage occurs: severely worn upper material, open seams, bulging padding, noticeable dents or dings, fasteners that no longer close, etc. For the best possible protection, it is also advisable to replace the headgear with a new one at the latest at the end of the applicable warranty period of two years, but in any case no later than six years after the date of manufacture (see label in the headgear).

Make sure you get the right size!

To determine the correct size, measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure. Before the first training session, have the headgear fitted by a second, preferably qualified person such as a trainer, coach or experienced athlete. The headgear should fit the shape of the head exactly, fit snugly and not slip. The forehead should be completely covered, the cheekbone should be covered and the ears should sit inside the prefabricated ear cup or, depending on the model, the "donut ear". The field of vision must not be impaired. Before use, check that all parts are present and free of defects. This chest protector is intended to prevent superficial mechanical injuries in boxing or martial arts and may not be suitable for other sports. Before the first training session, check that the chest protector fits exactly to the upper body and that the chest area is sufficiently covered by stretching the bustier over it and inserting the hard foam shells. The chest protector should fit snugly but not too tightly and the hard foam shells should not slip. Before use, it is essential to check that all elasticated straps and the mesh fabric are tight and that the hard foam shells fit correctly, otherwise the chest protector may slip and not provide sufficient protection. Depending on the intensity and form of use as well as cleaning and care, the mouthguard may become deformed or damaged; the same applies to chemicals or extreme heat.

It is then advisable to replace the mouthguard immediately. For the best possible protection, it is also advisable to replace the mouthguard after one year at the latest, depending on the degree of wear.

Fitting

  1. Insert the mouthguard into the upper jaw and fix it in place by biting down lightly. Then remove any interfering plastic parts with a knife.
  2. Now place the mouthguard in 65° hot water for 5 minutes.
  3. Rinse the mouth several times with cold water.
  4. Remove the mouthguard from the hot water and insert it into the upper jaw. Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth and bite down with moderate pressure for approx. 2 to 3 minutes. The mouthguard is now adjusted!

Cleaning and storage

After sport, rinse the mouthguard thoroughly under lukewarm water and allow to air dry. Never leave the moist mouthguard in the closed storage box for long periods of time. This can lead to mould growth. Ideally, the mouthguard should always be stored in the open storage container. Make sure that the mouthguard is well ventilated all round. Occasionally, the mouthguard should be cleaned more thoroughly with a toothbrush under running water.

Do not use cleaning agents, denture cleaners or toothpaste for cleaning.

Adjust and use the mouthguard only as described. Incorrect fitting and use will reduce the protective function and may result in injury. If possible, always keep your mouth closed during sport. The mouthguard can come loose and fall out due to knocks or impacts when the mouth is open. When used correctly, this mouthguard protects the teeth from impacts. However, no mouthguard can guarantee complete protection against injuries.

These elbow guards are designed for training and sparring in mixed martial arts and related unarmed martial arts to cushion the impact of falls on the knees and prevent abrasions. If not used as intended - e.g. for knee strikes or as elbow guards - the protective function is significantly reduced and, in extreme cases, can lead to injuries to the wearer or training partner. When used properly, these elbow guards protect the wearer's own knees. However, no protector can guarantee complete protection against injury.
