Paddy Donovan vs Lewis Crocker Rematch 13. September 2025

Paddy Donovan vs. Lewis Crocker – the big rematch and once again a statement for Paffen Sport

Boxing thriller in the UK! Sebastian Formella vs. Conor Benn on November 21 in London.

The greatest fight in Irish boxing history

Paddy ‘The Real Deal’ Donovan faced Lewis Crocker in a rematch at Windsor Park, Belfast, for the IBF welterweight world title. After twelve intense rounds, the judges awarded a split decision in favour of Lewis Crocker, with scores of 114–112 and 114–113 for Crocker and 115–111 for Donovan. It was a close, high-class duel that remained on a knife edge until the very end.

An important detail of the evening

Both fighters chose the ‘Paffen Sport Pro Mexican TF’ competition gloves for the biggest fight in the history of Irish men's boxing. Paffen Sport itself confirmed this in the run-up to the event. For Team PS athlete Paddy Donovan, there was no question about it – he has been relying on this model for a long time.

The reason for choosing these particular gloves can also be explained from a technical point of view: The ‘Pro Mexican TF’ combines high-quality, handcrafted leather with horsehair/foam padding, PSXtraFit cut for a snug fit and classic lacing – approved by the BBBofC and all major world associations, among others. In short: an uncompromising competition setup with crisp feedback and stable guidance.

Donovan ahead in storytelling – yet still showing sportsmanship

Although the decision went narrowly against him, Donovan dominated large parts of the fight with his rhythm, activity and clean boxing – typical of the Andy Lee protégé, whose rise has recently taken him to the top of the world rankings. The close decision and weeks of consistent pre-fight statements (‘It's my time’) underscore that Donovan's path remains true to Team Paffen's sporting DNA – ambitious, technically clear and consistently geared towards big nights.

Crocker's coup – the decisive moments

Lewis Crocker, for his part, took advantage of the big moments: two knockdowns and a tactical game plan that tipped the scores and ultimately earned him the belt. It was precisely these big moments – plus the home crowd – that made the razor-thin difference in the end. From a neutral point of view, Crocker's victory is understandable; from Donovan's perspective, it remains a bitter but instructive defeat that confirms his top-level status.
