Oleksandr Usyk
IBF, WBA, WBO, IBO World Champion, Heavyweight
Oleksandr Usyk is an exceptional phenomenon in international boxing. After becoming the first cruiserweight ever to become the undisputed world champion of all four major federations (WBO, WBC, WBA, IBF), he decided to move up to heavyweight in 2018.
Known for his technical brilliance, speed and tactical finesse, Usyk has quickly built up an impressive reputation in the world of boxing.
After an extremely successful amateur career in which he collected a large number of titles and medals, he switched to the pros in 2013. Here, too, it didn't take long for Usyk to rack up impressive successes. His record at cruiserweight is unblemished and crowned by the title of undisputed champion of all major federations.
In 2018, Usyk decided to move up to heavyweight. Despite his comparatively smaller size to some heavyweight opponents, he continued his incredible run of victories. In September 2021, he defeated the then title holder Anthony Joshua by a unanimous points victory. His outstanding performance in this and several fights before that, including against David Chisora, not only made him world heavyweight champion according to the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO versions, but also the best and most complete heavyweight currently alongside WBC world champion Tyson Fury.
Usyk is not only known for his athletic ability, but also for his modesty and professionalism outside the ring. His ability to adapt to different opponents, his tactical brilliance, speed and ambition to constantly improve make him a feared opponent, even for much bigger and more powerful opponents.
"The Cat"s (fight name) stance is southpaw, he is 191 cm tall and has a reach of 198 cm. He was born on 17 January 1987 in Simferopol, Ukraine, lives in Kiev and has a degree in sports science. He is coached by Anatoly Lomachenko and is looked after by K2 Management.
