Markus' exciting career began with a bang. Because he was only the third German after Max Schmeling and Ralf Rocchigiani to become world champion abroad, in Markus' case in England against Richie Woodhall. He subsequently lost the title twice and and regained it with tenacity and great willpower.
Even as an amateur, we accompanied Markus' career and continued to be friends and partners with him until his untimely death in December 2018.
