Marco Huck makes a successful comeback

Former world champion Marco Huck wins heavyweight fight against Dennis Lewandowski.

After a 15-month absence from the ring, Marco Huck celebrated a successful comeback and a successful debut as a heavyweight in front of 500 fans in the ice rink in Braunlage yesterday. The former cruiserweight world champion, who made a detour into the premier class of boxing eight years ago, boxed against Alexander Povetkin for the WBA heavyweight title and only lost by a wafer-thin margin on points, defeated the 152-kilogram colossus Dennis Lewandowski by a clear margin on points in a one-sided fight.

Despite an immense weight disadvantage of 50 kilograms, Huck never let his victory be in doubt for the entire duration of the fight. Lewandowski, who lost his fourth fight in a row, had nothing to offer the former champion on his comeback and had to take round after round of hard punches. Only the knockout eluded Huck and in the end he had to be content with having won all ten rounds with the judges.

It was Huck's 42nd victory in his 49th professional fight. The Berlin native is now hoping for a chance at the European Championships.
